If you’re anything like me, you love a simple recipe. One that doesn’t require too much stuffing around, not too much washing up but still tastes delicious. You with me? Thought so. This paleo berry crumble is a recipe that is just that. It’s simple, put your berries and sweetener in a dish, grab a bowl and chuck the dry ingredients together – pop it in the oven! How easy is that!
I’m always striving to make my favourite desserts healthier, which in my opinion doesn’t mean lower in calories, it means more nutrient dense. SO basically you’re getting more bang for your buck! Instead of using for plain flour, butter, refined sugar (which is not the devil, I just prefer to have a very limited amount of it in my diet!); I opted to use almond meal, coconut oil and rice malt syrup. For me, I like a diet that’s higher in fats than carbohydrates, that’s just what I like and I feel best on it. So using almond meal instead of flour is a no brainer, it’s low carb and much richer in vitamins and minerals including vitamin E, riboflavin, magnesium and potassium. Meanwhile, plain white flour offers little to no nutritional benefits other than providing a source of carbohydrates.
With all this aside, I honestly just think this paleo berry crumble is a delicious dessert. It tastes amazing, and would be a great dessert to pull out at your next dinner party or get together. Serve the berry crumble with your favourite icecream (amazing with frozen greek yogurt or coconut icecream) and the kids/adults will love it all the same!
