My Other Brother
586 BURKE ROAD,
CAMBERWELL VIC 3124
Sharing a carpark with the Sunday Camberwell market is a hidden gem, MOB; My Other Brother. Away from the hustle and bustle main street and shops, MOB is a wonderfully bright and welcoming space. How did I know it was going to be good? From the moment I parked my car, I could see almost every table was full… Midday on a Thursday? Yup. From the local business workers grabbing a take-away coffee on their lunch break, students finishing they assignments and some elderly ladies enjoying tea and a huge muffin. Everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves, and from what I could tell, was well looked after from the staff buzzing around.
We were swiftly sat outside, it was a cool morning but thankfully we were rugged up! The waiter asked our drinks order, and I exclaimed “Wow, it’s so busy!”, He simply laughed and replied with “you should see it on Sundays.” After receiving our coffees, a skinny cappuccino for me and a soy latté for my gal kaitlyn, we ordered food. ‘Predictably’ (as my boyfriend would say), I went for the Brekky bowl. In my opinion, you can never go wrong, there’s always lots of different flavours and textures going on, plus it’s generally a relatively balanced dish with those all important macros. Kaitlyn went for the fried cauliflower and braised lamb salad, a proud moment for me, as she’s usually one to veer on the safe side of brunch.
We also ordered some smoothies because, well, why not? Admittedly we ordered based on colour. The Green smoothie, you guessed it, was green (who woulda thought?) and the dragon fruit smoothie dramatically pink. Not only were they bright and in yo face, they were also delicious and full of flavour! As for the food… after I managed to get a few shots of it, there was probably a maximum of 3 words shared between us while we stuffed our faces. They consisted of ‘oh’ ‘my’ ‘god’ – to say the food hit the spot is an understatement. I managed to steal a few bites of Kaitlyn’s salad in between bites of my own, and to be frank I couldn’t pick a favourite. Both were so unbelievably flavoursome. Kale never tasted so good. Can say with full confidence I will be returning on the ASAP!
