There’s no denying travelling these days is a whole different ball game. While it is still incredible experiencing different destinations, there’s nothing quite like capturing the moments in beautiful and well thought out locations. Lucky for you, I’ve taken the guess work out of it and compiled a list of Instagram worthy locations in London. This is in no way endorsed by anyone, this is simply just a list of locations that I think make pretty cute photo spots! Head here if you want to see London’s most instagram worthy cafes… There are SO many they deserved their own list.
Millenium Bridge
A word of warning, early rising is an absolute must if you want a clear shot. You can capture gorgeous shots of St Pauls Cathedral and if you’re lucky enough, without any tourists. Sunday is probably best as I discovered. I attempted shots on a Friday at 8am, absolutely no chance!
BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS: Sundays are best to avoid work commuters, Sunrise, no later than 7.30am
Tower Bridge
It’s one of London’s most iconic bridges, so why not hop up on it for the perfect insta pic. Never thought i’d be able to say “I had coffee on London Tower Bridge”. There will be people walking by but if you’re strategic enough with your angles you should be able to miss them.
BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS: Any time
Little Venice
Having not seen the real deal Venice, I was happy to be visiting London’s Little Venice. Small house boats run down the sides of the river, you’ll even find a few boat cafes. I went midweek at around 9.30am, however it was in October so off peak time. Top tip… Dress brightly!
BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS: Any time midweek, early Sunday morning. Late morning and afternoons can get busy on the weekends!
Potter’s Fields
The classic London Tower Bridge photo can be found here at Potter’s Fields. People are usually walking past but just take turns if need be, there’s room for everyone. Unfortunately I wasn’t blessed with beautiful blue skies but it’ll do.
BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS: Any time midweek
Buckingham Palace
This is definitely one that you’ll have to get up early for. The popular and world renowned Buckingham Palace is beautiful. Catch it at sunrise for a gorgeous glowy shot. Your best bet for a clear shot is a Sunday at around 7am, I went early midweek but there were still a few people heading to work.
BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS: Early morning midweek or Sundays are best, 7am-8am.
St Pauls Cathedral
Such a gorgeous building architecturally and photos can’t even do it justice. Right near Millennium bridge so my suggestion is to get them both done in the one morning. Best to head there early to avoid crowds, and travel hack: go on a Sunday for free entry into the cathedral.
BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS: Early morning midweek or Sundays are best, 7am-8am.
The Victoria Memorial
I didn’t expect to love these shots as much as I do. With Buckingham Palace right behind it’s a great spot to get multiple, but different images. As with Buckingham Palace, make sure you get there nice and early midweek, but if you can aim for a Sunday morning.
BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS: Early morning midweek or Sundays are best, 7am-8am.
Big Ben Archway
Unfortunately the great Big Ben was still having some beautification work done so I wasn’t able to get the greatest shot but it’s the thought that counts right? Underneath Westminster bridge directly opposite Big Ben you’ll find this archway which makes for great framing of your shot. Head there early to avoid people heading to work, otherwise aim for a sunset shot both will produce beautiful results.
BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS: Sunset or sunrise early morning midweek or Sunday, latest 7am.
Chelsea
If there’s one thing I’ve fallen in love with more than anything, it’s the pastel coloured houses that populate the streets of London. There’s a few that are particularly colourful and you’ll find rows of pastel houses together. One of them is Bywater Street, captured below. I went in the afternoon, however it was in off-peak time so if you’re travelling through in Summer i’d expect a few people!
BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS: Midweek late morning 10-11am. Definitely needs good lighting and can get busy in peak travel season (Summer) so just be ready to take turns!
Kensington Gardens
There’s just nothing like the gardens in London. They are so beautiful and being there in Autumn all the leaves are a gorgeous burnt orange colour. If you’re happy having people in your shots and aren’t really fussed you can head there at any time and expect a gorgeous photo. If you’re wanting a clearer shot I’d suggest heading there early in the morning, sunrise would be amazing!
BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS: If you want clear shots head here early morning midweek, but if you’re happy with people in the background any time is beautiful.
