So here I was, scouring the isles of my local supermarket on the hunt for some snacks (typical). In the mad rush to get out the door I forgot to pack snacks in my handbag, absolute disaster for a hungry gal like myself. On my hunt, I came across these “Date Snacks” – essentially dates, rolled in pistachios, coconut or almonds. Perfect!
… until I saw the ridiculous price tag! Something like 10 dollars for 6 rolls. Please. “I could make these SO easily” – I told myself. And so I did. I bought a few bits and pieces, and made a whole container which are now happily sitting in my fridge. Because the base is completely dates they are high in sugar, natural sugar, but nonetheless sugar. So I tend to try and stick to eating just the one in an effort to make sure I don’t spike my blood sugar levels TOO much – it can’t always stick to one cause these are delicious let me tell you. They are a great snack to have at the ready when the insane sugar cravings hit you like a train arrrrround about 3pm.
Note to self: bring these date rolls to work so I don’t have to buy snacks!!
