I love the way they describe their cafe as Grandma Chic:
“Comfortable like Grandma’s backyard but cool and modern like our food.”
Isn’t that the best.
Tom and I visited this cute cafe in Brunswick on a chilly morning for brunch. We were looked after by one of the co-owners Huss, who was incredibly generous and welcoming. We sat outside because I needed that quality lighting of course, and Huss lit a gas heater and gave us blankets to keep us warm, if that’s not service I don’t know what is!
I got my usual almond milk cappuccino, and Tom got his double espresso. The coffee was delicious, hot and creamy. For brunch, I ordered the diced avocado on pumpkin toast and added mushrooms. Tom ordered the pulled ham hock on black ink brioche bun. The food was ridiculously good. The pumpkin toast was to die for, so much so that Tom ordered himself a slice! My meal had perfectly poached eggs, beetroot relish and Persian fetta… all the flavours perfectly complimented each other.
Tom’s meal also had two perfect poachies and a sumac hollandaise, a welcomed alternative to the traditional. It was a beautiful relaxed morning, the staff were super friendly and service was quick. If you’re looking for a cafe with both delicious and instagram worthy food then Code 21 is just the place!
