1290 Malvern Road,
Welcome; to the Clubhouse. If you’ve recently watched the second series of 13 Reasons Why you’ll have a whole new meaning to the word clubhouse, but stick with me, I promise this clubhouse is the good kind. Being a new cafe you come expecting things to be a little, clunky shall we say? But these guys had it covered. Coming from the ever-growing chain of stunning cafés alongside Tinker, My Other Brother and Bentwood they really know how to complete the brunch experience. From the layout, the irresistible coffee and the beautifully plated food – you can’t really go wrong. I am in LOVE with the gorgeous outdoor area, I’ve been to Clubhouse a couple of times and have sat out there in both warm and cold conditions. In the colder months, they’ve had gas heaters to keep you warm so no matter the weather you can still get fresh air (if you’re reading this Clubhouse, please become one of those cool places that has little blankets you will make me so happy!!).
Another great asset to this café… Beautiful coffee. I’ll tell you, there’s nothing worse than a crappy coffee especially on a cold morning. Trust this coffee snob, you won’t be disappointed. So as you can probably predict, I got myself an almond milk cappuccino and Tom got himself a double espresso (predictable I know #snore). When it came to the food, I read the menu, as if I was going to order something different, then went ahead and got the Green Breakfast Bowl – of course. We also ordered the Mojo Benny and Chakra Chia pudding; gotta finish with a bang amiright? I may have gotten a little ahead of myself, my eyes were definitely bigger than my belly when I thought it was also a great idea to get the choc and peanut butter smoothie. I’ve never left one of these cafés disappointed and Clubhouse upheld my expectations. The Green Breakfast Bowl has the right amount of elements and textures that compliment each other like you wouldn’t believe. The pita chips are super crunchy, the yogurt and quinoa are in the perfect wet to dry ratio, the runny poached egg – it’s just to die for.
The Mojo Benny was rich and indulgent, I was lucky enough to get a bite I was questioning if I was going to for a little bit there. It featured pulled pork, a cheddar cornbread waffle and chipotle hollandaise, a little interesting flavour explosion. The chipotle hollandaise had a lot more depth of flavour the traditional hollandaise. For me personally, I wouldn’t be able to finish as dish like that simply because it is so indulgent and heavy; Thomas on the other hand polished it off just fine. And onto the Chakra Chia Pudding, well it tasted as good as it looked. The buckwheat granola is out of this world, combined with the coconut yogurt and chia pudding made with blue tea it really is a simple masterpiece. The fresh fruit adds a refreshing tang that really cuts through the rich peanut buttery granola. Now you’re probably thinking how on earth did you also drink that smoothie?! Well friends, I may have had a few sips and tried my hardest to get through it (because omg it was good), but ultimately, Tom had to take over the reigns. Overall, Clubhouse Malvern is a beautiful café, with friendly staff and delicious food… What more could you ask for?!
