I don’t know what’s hit me but I have been CRAVING chocolate like there’s no tomorrow. I’m talking waking up from a good nights sleep and bam, I want chocolate. Honestly, it’s getting a little out of control. Thankfully, I had some sneaky cacao powder in my cupboard and decided I’d try and curb my ridiculous cravings. The first time I made it.. well, it was ok, but it definitely didn’t satisfy. The second time, I upped the cacao by
a little bit a lot (oh did I ever)… I also added some honey to sweeten up the deal and I was kicking goals. Chocolate craving, be gone!
I also added some other bits and bobs to amp up the nutrients. There’s maca powder, which has been said to improve mood and mental wellbeing, while assisting in hormonal imbalances. I used this stuff so much back in the day I got sick of it. Now I’m back on the bandwagon and loving it once again! It has a really earthy, caramel flavour which goes really well with the cacao powder. There’s also chia seeds because, well; fibre, protein and also makes the smoothies THICK. Greens because who doesn’t feel like the definition of health when they put greens in their smoothie? Surely not just me. Now the raw egg may scare a few people, I get it, but honestly I’ve never been sick from having raw egg. My dad used to make us kids these delicious smoothies with raw egg, banana, milk and loads of honey literally every weekend and none of us have ever been sick. It makes the smoothie really creamy, but if you’d rather skip it just add in a scoop of protein powder and add a little more almond milk instead!
