5 Reasons you need to try KX Pilates

I’m not here to tell you about this new ‘fitness thing’ called KX Pilates… if you’ve not heard of it, honestly you need to get out more. Japanese for ‘change for the better’ the Kaizen eXperience – or KX – is a philosophy that focuses on small and ongoing improvement. KX pilates first emerged in 2010 and it has exploded since then with studios opening up in almost all Australian states, and for good reason. Their unique workouts are tough, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. So here’s a few reasons why I think you should give KX Pilates a go!

5 Reasons you need to try KX Pilates

You’ll get the most out of your workout

KX Pilates targets the whole body through continuous, precise, controlled movements and functional exercises that increase the intensity of the workout, while engaging the core and delivering cardiovascular conditioning. The workout is intensified by using more muscle fibres in the shortest amount of time, and by reducing the amount of time between exercise sets. The idea behind KX Pilates is to work smarter, not longer – I don’t know about you but that sounds pretty great to me!

Build Your Core

The great thing about KX Pilates workouts is the way they constantly engage the body’s core muscle groups, which, in my opinion are the most important muscles in your body. With the use of a reformer, dumbbells, added resistance and a few other bits and pieces (ropes, balls, you name it), you’re on your was to an epically strong core. Strengthening your core will likely lead to less injury, less back pain, better posture and a central nervous system that’s doing it’s job properly! Stronger core = Better life.

The Instructors ROCK

I have been lucky enough to try two unreal studios, KX Oakleigh and KX Knox. Each class I’ve attended has been new, the instructors are always super energetic and genuinely love their job. If you’re a newbie they’ll keep a close eye on you to make sure you’re arms and legs aren’t hangin’ about in the wrong place (coming from personal experience). Plus they’re always happy to chat.. I’ve chatted about all things from exercise, brunch to how their sister changed their name to Cleopatra – true story.

Go at Your Own Pace

There’s often competition in classes, feeling like you’re not ‘fit enough’, ‘strong enough’ or experienced enough can suck. The great thing about KX Pilates is you can really go at your own pace. The instructors always give a beginner or intermediate option for the level of resistance, and being own your own reformer means you can just take your time with it!

Keep things fresh

If you’ve been hitting the gym for years, attending regular classes or just doing the same old it can get a little bit stale. I know those feels. Changing things up and trying KX Pilates will have you motivated, re-inspired and out of your comfort zone. After all.. your comfort zone is a beautiful place but nothing really grows there!
